Bishop Pair Positions

Search chess positions where White has the bishop pair (both light and dark-squared bishops). Discover patterns from real Lichess games.

About this pattern

The bishop pair is a well-known positional advantage. Two bishops working together control both diagonals and become increasingly powerful as the position opens up. The advantage of the bishop pair is estimated at roughly half a pawn in most positions. This search finds all positions where White retains both the light-squared and dark-squared bishop.
